Since May 2022, the Studio has been working to produce and provide French subtitles for new video content published on WebTV. These subtitles are available in 'Closed Captioning' (CC) mode and, where applicable, are indicated in the technical details accompanying the introductory texts.
Whether to compensate for a hearing impairment or to facilitate other forms of accessibility, you can display the subtitles for the videos using the CC function, when it is active in the WebTV player. These subtitles are not automatically generated by the platform; they are edited one by one, manually, whilst adhering as closely as possible to the guidelines published by the Association of Audiovisual Translators and Adaptors (ATAA).
The Studio therefore hopes to offer you a subtitling experience that is as seamless as possible and adheres as closely as possible to current standards, particularly with regard to:
- semantic segmentation,
- duration,
- changes of shot,
- adaptation of syntax and punctuation.
Given the time-consuming nature of these tasks, the Studio cannot commit to providing subtitles simultaneously with the publication of new content. A queue is created on an ongoing basis, taking into account publication dates as well as institutional priorities or those specific to the intended use of the content.
Similarly, it is not possible to plan for the possibility of adding subtitles to video content published before May 2022. Depending on specific requirements, on a case-by-case basis, it will still be possible to assess the feasibility of queuing certain older content.
